Foul-tempered Anderson makes waves backstage after divorce shock
ACTOR Anthony Anderson’s sudden divorce from wife Alvina is turning him into a monster while shooting TV’s long-running crime drama Law & Order, spies snitch.
The 51-year-old star, who’s played Det. Kevin Bernard on the show since 2008, used to be a mellow cat on the set, but he’s turned grouchy and touchy since being blindsided with divorce papers on March 25 by his wife of 22 years, sources say.
“Things have been very rocky between them for months and unfortunately he brought the baggage to work,” spills an insider. “He’s got a reputation for being a cool guy to work with but that has not been the case since he started shooting the Law & Order reboot earlier this year.
“There’s been a cloud over him — he’s just not been a happy camper. It’s made life very uncomfortable for everyone on set.”
Sources claim Anthony, also the star of the sitcom Black-ish and its spin-off Grown-ish, flies off the handle with an explosive temper and has become standoffish.
“He’s got a very short fuse,” blabs the insider.
Anderson and Alvina have been married 22 years and have two adult kids
“If the shoot runs even an hour over, he’ll have a fit. And he’s clearly not interested in making friends.
“He avoids talking to his castmates or anyone else when the cameras aren’t rolling. He’ll immediately get on his phone and pop in his earbuds to make it clear he’s not interested in making small talk.
“No one has complained about his work — he’s doing a great job, but people are sick of his grumpy attitude and tantrums when the cameras stop rolling.”
This is the second crash of the Anderson marriage.
Alvina, mom of his children, Kyra, 26, and Nathan, 22, previously filed for divorce in 2015, but the couple reconciled and she dropped the action.
Now with the new split, “Anthony’s just not happy, and people around him think it’s a shame,” adds the source.
