BIG BEEF OVER TINY WHOPPERS!
Burger King sued over bogus TV ads
A NEW lawsuit has a beef with Burger King — customers charge the fastfood chain with telling whoppers about the size of its sandwiches!
“Burger King materially overstates the size of nearly every menu item in its current advertisements,” claims the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Miami on behalf of four cranky consumers who are hungry for revenge.
The plaintiffs say they were shortchanged when they sank their teeth into bitty burgers that did not match the hefty humdingers displayed in advertising photos.
The suit complains the Miami-based corporation uses photos depicting sandwiches with “oversized meat patties and ingredients that overflow over the bun to make it appear that the burgers are approximately 35 percent larger in size and contain more than double the meat than the actual burger.”
Burger King Corp’s spokesperson says the company “does not comment on pending or potential litigations,” but the folks suing the chain aren’t the only people who claim to have noticed a discrepancy.
“Yo @BurgerKing,” one Twitter user posted, “why did I just get the #BigKing and this thing looks like the Small Prince?”
The picky patrons seek damages on behalf of themselves and millions of diners who, they say, suffered hits to their wallets when they received mini instead of mammoth portions.
They also want the chain to beef up its advertising materials to more accurately reflect the size of its portions.
