JONBENET DAD DEMANDS NEW MURDER PROBE!
Wants more tests on crime scene DNA evidence
TRAGIC little beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey’s father is demanding a new probe into the six-year-old’s horrific 1996 murder, insisting the investigation be taken away from Colorado cops, who have failed to crack the case!
Still-grieving John Ramsey, 78, is supporting an online petition asking for the new investigation and says DNA evidence that was never examined should be taken from Boulder cops and given to a new agency.
“Somehow we’ve got to force the police, or take it away from them, the ability to go ahead and test some of the crime scene evidence that was never tested for DNA,” Ramsey says.
“Why that’s never been done and will never be done by the police baffles me.”
Blond kiddie beauty pageant winner JonBenét’s body was discovered in the basement wine cellar of her family’s Boulder mansion on Dec. 26, 1996.
A garrote was around her neck, her skull was cracked and evidence of sexual abuse was found.
A bizarre ransom note was discovered in the upstairs kitchen.
Ramsey and his wife Patsy, who died in 2006, were targeted by cops until 2008 when new DNA found on JonBenét’s clothes revealed an “unexplained third party” was involved in the girl’s death.
Then-Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacey cleared John and Patsy of any involvement in the crime.
Still, John’s recent statement appears to suggest police incompetence, but Boulder Police insist they’ve always been, and still are, on the case.
“Ever since Dec. 26, 1996, detectives have followed up on every lead that has come into the department, to include more than 21,016 tips, letters and emails and traveling to 19 states to interview or speak with more than 1,000 individuals in connection to this crime,” says a department release.
Police officials add they met with DNA experts in March and “over 750 samples” have been checked with “the latest technology” and new samples are “regularly checked for new matches.”
