10 THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT
MACHO Miles Teller is joining the ranks of movie pilots Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer in Top Gun: Maverick. But the screen hunk, 35, reveals he had to get into “killer shape” to play high-flying Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw! Here are ten things you don’t know about the Pennsylvania native.
1 A second-grade teacher told him he’d never graduate high school and he’d be a juvenile delinquent.
2 As a teen, he played alto saxophone in a rock band and was a drummer for a church youth group.
3 He started acting in high school because he thought the drama teacher was “pretty hot.”
4 He used to have a “big crush” on Groundhog Day’s Andie MacDowell.
5 At age 20, he was ejected from a friend’s car during a crash. The accident left him with disfiguring facial scars, which required several surgeries and laser treatments.
6 He admits doing “zero extracurricular activities” while a student at New York University “so I could get high.” But he stopped smoking pot after he moved to L.A. to launch his movie career.
7 He was cast for his major film debut in 2010’s Rabbit Hole after leading lady Nicole Kidman noticed he’d blushed during his audition. “She thought it was so honest and real,” he recalls.
8 When he tackled J.K. Simmons for a scene in 2014's Whiplash, he accidentally cracked two of the Oscar winner's ribs.
9 He lost 20 pounds and got down to 6 percent body fat to play real-life boxer Vinny Pazienza in 2016’s Bleed for This.
10 Though he’s made millions in Hollywood, he confides he didn’t rush to repay his student loans for his undergrad degree because his business manager told him “the interest is so low, there’s no sense in paying them off.”
