Fighting to save his personal $14M Wheel of Fortune after bizarre antics
EMBATTLED game host Pat Sajak is vowing to keep his job as Wheel of Fortune fans howl for his head over his tacky comments to co-star Vanna White and his insulting treatment of contestants!
A mounting online crusade to oust the Wheel frontman is even shaking show bosses, who also “are sick and tired of Pat’s lousy attitude,” dishes an insider. “The fear is they’ll lose viewers if they don’t do something about it. Fans are already calling for Pat to retire and the pressure’s starting to get hectic.”
But the 75-year-old host isn’t flinching.
“Pat’s a sensitive guy and finding all the pressure and daily attacks too much to take,” spills an insider. “He acknowledges he’s angered some with his dry sense of humor, but to paint him as this insensitive a**hole who deserves to be fired is a step too far — and he’ll be damned if this is going to taint his legacy.”
Sajak, who earns $14 million a year, plans “to leave on his own terms and if the bosses do pull the trigger, they’ll have to cough up one hell of a severance package,” adds the insider.
But viewers seem tired of the 40-year host’s increasingly odd antics and recently jumped on him for his apparent dislike of a contestant named Erik, who decided to solve the puzzle and win easy money instead of taking another spin and risk losing.
Last fall, Sajak barked at a contestant for “interrupting” him while he read a promo, and snapped at another for “making sound effects” while whooping over a win.
He bashed one player for being “ungrateful,” and mocked another’s lisp.
Then he triggered outrage by asking his letter-turning sidekick Vanna, 65, if she watched opera naked!
But Sajak is fed up with his critics and vows to fight through the scandals.
Notes the insider: “Pat’s feeling is everyone makes a mistake now and then, and he’s only human, and people should back off because he’s not going to take this crap any longer!”
