WHY VANNA’S READY TO WALK OFF WHEEL
How she REALLY feels about Sajak
FED-UP Vanna White is at her wit’s end over the chaos caused by Wheel of Fortune frontman Pat Sajak’s rude antics and is ready to leave the show, sources blab.
While the 65-year-old letterturner is stunned by Sajak’s recent scandals, insiders say she’s decided to walk if he gets the heave-ho after insulting contestants and making racy jokes some viewers have branded sexist.
“Vanna’s at a time in her life where she’s got more than enough money in the bank and doesn’t need stress,” spills an insider. “She’s thought about it long and hard and without Pat, she sees little reason to stick around” since Wheel’s ratings are likely to plummet even more.
Vanna, who joined the show in 1982, a year after Sajak, “sees Pat being a jerk, but doesn’t have an ax to grind even if he is a douchebag sometimes,” explains the insider.
“She thinks it’s unfair for him to be judged so harshly and catch so much flak from people. She feels sorry for him — even though Pat’s made her the butt of some of his crudest jokes.”
Fans were infuriated when poor Vanna was recently left red-faced over an embarrassing crack Sajak fired at her after a contestant, who was an opera singer, won $64,410.
Sajak asked Vanna: “Are you an opera buff at all?”
The smiling blonde replied: “Yes. I’m not a buff, but I like opera.”
Then out of the blue, Sajak cracked: “Have you ever watched opera in the buff? I’m just curious” — leaving his co-star stunned with embarrassment. Now, Vanna sees there’s life beyond Wheel, the spy says. She’s happy off-camera with boyfriend of ten years, contractor John Donaldson, and is ready to try something else. Once Sajak leaves — on his own or after a push — the source insists Vanna is history “even if they make her a gigantic offer. She’ll leave because she wouldn’t want to dance on Pat’s grave.”
