IS GOOGLE INFECTED BY A SECRET CULT?
Fired worker sues over odd conspiracy at internet giant
GOOGLE has been infiltrated by a bizarre doomsday cult — led by a man accused of molesting young boys, according to a former worker, who claims he was axed by the tech giant after raising questions about the group.
In a shocking California lawsuit, Kevin Lloyd, 34, claims Google Developer Studio (GDS) — which produces advertising and in-house videos for the internet colossus — is under the secret cult of The Fellowship of Friends,
which relies on group love fests and 44 artistic angels, including William Shakespeare, to attain enlightenment.
Lloyd’s suit charges GDS director Peter Lubbers is staffing his branch with cult members and giving them promotions at the expense of other employees.
He also claims many vendors hired by GDS were tied to the cult, which sees “anyone outside as somehow inferior” and “those that express serious concerns or question the group may be eventually perceived as enemies.”
Lloyd, who joined Google as a video producer in 2017, charges he was fired in February 2021 because he raised red flags about the number of fellowship members hired by GDS.
The Fellowship of Friends was founded in Holland in 1970 by Robert Earl Burton, now 83, who later moved to the U.S. Now based in the tiny town of Oregon House, the faith has members in 80 cities around the world. Burton has publicly proclaimed women are inferior, his critics charge.
In 1984, a $2.75 million lawsuit claimed Burton had “forcefully and unlawfully sexually seduced” young male members. In 1996, another lawsuit accused Burton of sexual misconduct with a minor male member. Both suits were settled out of court.
Meanwhile, Lubbers denies Lloyd’s charges, saying his religious beliefs have “never played a role in hiring” or “bringing in the right vendors for the jobs.”
A Google spokesperson notes: “It’s against the law to ask for the religious affiliations of those who work for us or for our suppliers.”
