MEAN GIRL MARTHA TORCHES PALTROW!
Cackling with glee as staff s’mores camp-out ignites Goop store
SNIPPY Martha Stewart is using a fiery accident at Goop goddess Gwyneth Paltrow’s Hamptons shop to make her rival domestic diva a laughingstock of the snooty New York enclave, an insider dishes.
Hollywood upstart Paltrow, 49, became the talk of the town when a blaze torched her outlet in tony Sag Harbor — after her team was playing camp-out by melting s’mores over deluxe candleholders filled with rubbing alcohol! The makeshift stove exploded, sending two men to a hospital with severe burns.
“Gwyneth’s Goop business wasn’t doing so hot before, and now she’s moaning to pals that her reputation is in tatters as she quietly deals with financial and legal repercussions,” tattles a tipster.
While Gwyneth’s team is trying to downplay the burning blunder, “everyone in town is gossiping about it” says the snitch — and homemaking queen bee Martha, who’s been feuding with the Oscar winner for years, “is telling everyone that Gwyneth’s getting the karma she deserves for not only copying her business but overcharging everyone to boot.
“She says Gwyneth doesn’t know what she’s doing, is dull and her entrepreneurial days are numbered.”
This is just the latest salvo in a savage rivalry that went nuclear when Gwyneth lured 81-year-old Martha’s former
CEO, Lisa Gersh, to a gig at Goop nearly a decade ago. “Martha and Gwyneth hate each other,” blabs the insider. “Martha’s never forgiven Gwyneth for poaching Lisa and doesn’t miss a chance to bad-mouth her.
“She’s always held Gwyneth in low esteem because she’s an actress and came from pampered privilege, where Martha had to work hard to get where she is.”
Meanwhile, the actress’ online lifestyle site has been struggling and the Shakespeare in Love star admits it's a "hard" time for the Goop brand
But Martha couldn’t be happier, tattles the source. “Martha’s got a mean streak. She’s a survivor, and is counting the days until Gwyneth quits and gets back to what she’s really good at — acting,” says the source.
