BORED HARMON’S BACK ON THE CASE!
Mark coming out of retirement for NCIS 20th season
FORMER NCIS star Mark Harmon intends to return to his hit TV crime series and beat the retirement blues, stunned spies tattle.
The 70-year-old onetime UCLA football quarterback left the popular program due to fatigue after 19 seasons playing Leroy Jethro Gibbs. But now that he’s had a good rest, Mark is itching to get back in front of the cameras and out of the house he shares with his former Mork & Mindy star wife, Pam Dawber, sources dish.
“Mark has to work hard to find things to do at home,” spills an insider.
Not surprisingly, NCIS bigwigs are all for him coming back for the 20th season, according to sources who say the military police drama’s ratings nosedived when Harmon split.
However, scriptwriters purposely left the door open for his character’s return “knowing Mark would be bored as hell in six months,” notes the insider.
“He’s been talking to friends that it might be a good idea, and they’re pumped Mark is
thinking about it.”
Gibbs was written out of the show by retiring. But he can easily be brought back to give his replacement Alden Parker, played by Gary Cole, some competition, industry moles say.
Sources squeal Mark would also like to lure Pauley Perrette, 53, back, too.
In 2018 Pauley, who played goth CSI expert Abby Sciuto, left the show in a huff over Harmon’s dog, which had bit a crew member so badly docs used 15 stitches to close the wound.
She caused a stink over Mark continuing to bring the pooch to the set and left the show following 15 seasons.
“Mark feels bad about how it went down,” blabs the insider. “The only problem is bosses are less keen on Pauley. She did leave on a bad note.”
