Longtime foe of nip/tuck confronts shocking reality
TV crime fighter Mariska Hargitay had boasted she prefers a natural look, but as aging sours her looks, the 58-year-old’s seeking help with nip/tucks, sources say.
The Law & Order: SVU star, who plays beloved Det. Olivia Benson on the longrunning series, looked visibly haggard while filming scenes in New York City Aug. 5.
“She was against plastic surgery in her younger years but these days — looking at the dailies or in the mirror — are enough to change her mind,” spills an insider.
“She looks long in the tooth and tired all the time.”
The daughter of late sex symbol Jayne Mansfield “would never change her nose or do anything too drastic or invasive,” notes the insider.
But she’s considering laser treatment that erases forehead and smile lines and a crepey neck and filler to plump her lips, says the insider. “If she can reverse ten years or more, she’s all for it.”
Married to actor Peter Hermann, 54, and mom of sons August, 16, and Andrew, 10, and daughter Amaya, 11, Mariska recalls being browbeaten about her looks in the early years of her threedecade career.
“I spent most of my 20s having people say ‘no’ to me,” she says. “I’d go to auditions and the casting directors would be like: You’re not tall enough, you’re not pretty enough, you’re not blond enough, your nose is too big, your nose is too small, your skin is too dark, your skin is too light, change your name! There was so much rejection. I didn’t work for eight years.”
So she “developed a thick skin and stubbornly refused to change anything,” says the source.
“But plastic surgery has changed and now it’s hard to tell when people get it, if it’s done right. Mariska’s really softened her stance and wants to try it for herself!”
