Paranoid princess fled marriage after reporter faked proof
TRAGIC Princess Diana went to her grave believing a heartbreaking lie — that Prince Charles had a steamy affair with William and Harry’s nanny, who had an abortion when he got her pregnant!
On the eve of the 25th anniversary of Di’s death at age 36 in a Paris tunnel car crash, a bombshell revelation has exposed an unscrupulous British television reporter — intent on a career scoop — was behind the cruel falsehood many insiders claim killed the People’s Princess on Aug. 31, 1997.
In an elaborate plot to convince Charles’ troubled wife to expose her marital problems on the BBC’s Panorama news program, ruthless rogue reporter Martin Bashir concocted a twisted fiction about the Prince of Wales bedding

tears when she told me about Charles and
Tiggy,” says her former psychic Simone Simmons. “Her face went beet-red. She was very angry.”
But a high-level palace insider tells GLOBE: “Sadly, Diana never learned the truth. She was heartbroken over the affair and abortion — and it prompted her to air all the details of her troubled marriage to Charles on the BBC in 1995.
“She saw the interview as an act of self-preservation — and revenge. Diana feared there was no end to the damning betrayals by Charles, who’d been cheating on her with his married mistress, Camilla
Parker Bowles, who is now his wife.
“Diana became paranoid, convinced she could trust no one. She believed there was a conspiracy to get rid of her permanently and ran from everything royal. We believe she might be alive today if she’d known she’d been conned — because the BBC interview was actually her public declaration of divorce.” But it took two and a half decades for the truth to bubble to the surface. Bashir’s heartless hoax was exposed during a defamation lawsuit brought by Tiggy in London’s High Court.
The TV corporation, accused of whitewashing an investigation into the scandal, agreed to pay Tiggy, who is now known as Alexandra Pettifer, almost $250,000 and publicly apologize to her and the royals for the “false and malicious allegations” made by Bashir.
Diana’s furious brother, Charles Spencer, 58, is calling for a new criminal police probe, saying Bashir also “groomed” him to get access to his sister!
“I was shown forged bank statements. I was told of underhand payments, spying and appalling deception. But I was the one being deceived for Bashir to get to my late sister,” Spencer charges.
According to another source, Bashir not only claimed Charles bedded the nanny, the reporter also tricked Diana by showing her a faked receipt for an abortion!
Diana was so convinced, she reportedly confronted Tiggy at a Christmas party where she remarked,
“So sorry to hear about the baby.”
Bashir, 59, once a host of ABC’s Nightline and a former MSNBC anchor, also cruelly played on the princess’ paranoia by showing her fake bank documents indicating British intelligence services were paying people close to her to monitor her every move!
“The agonizing lies she was told by the BBC ensured a very skewed and false view of the situation she was in,” says her brother. “This terrible scandal deceived her into forgoing those who cared for her and would have protected her.”
The palace source notes Diana dumped her police protection because she trusted no one.
“She ultimately relied on her boyfriend Dodi Fayed’s private security, which, as we
know, proved totally inadequate,” says the source.
Diana and Dodi were riding in his Mercedes limo when his
chauffeur lost control and crashed in the tunnel, killing them. Only a bodyguard survived.
“The lie that broke Diana’s heart also led to her death,” says the source. “The BBC — and others — have her blood on their hands.”
