Facing jail over accusations he groped gals at fan convention
SCANDAL-SCARRED wildman Gary Busey is accused of four sex crimes — and facing a potential jail sentence — after women complained about being groped and harassed at a horror movie fan festival in New Jersey.
The 78-year-old Lethal Weapon villain, who suffered permanent brain damage in a 1988 motorcycle crash where he wasn’t wearing a helmet, is charged with criminal sexual contact, attempted sexual assault and harassment at the Monster Mania convention in Cherry Hill, N.J., last month. Busey pleaded not guilty, insists his accusers are “lying” and has witnesses who can prove it.
Local police Lt. Robert Scheunemann says he received “multiple complaints … about contact, about touching” as the Point Break star, who’s appeared in more than 100 flicks, did a guest appearance at the gathering.
Insiders claim Busey was so out of control, the event’s boss ordered him removed from the convention and instructed not to return!
Busey landed in similar hot water while guesting on TV’s The Apprentice in 2011, where a woman staffer claimed: “We were smoking cigarettes outside and at one point, he grabbed me firmly between my legs, and ran his hand up my stomach, and grabbed my breasts.
“I didn’t know what to do. So I made this joke that, ‘Oh, I’ve never been sexually harassed by a celebrity before!’ Then he grabbed my hand and put it [over] his penis, and said, like, ‘I’m just getting started, baby.’ ”
She says a male friend saved her by jumping between them.
Busey denied her charges and show host Donald Trump reportedly laughed off the ugly incident, which never resulted in legal action.
He was also busted on drug charges after nearly dying from a 1995 cocaine overdose at his Malibu home and has been arrested twice on allegations of spousal abuse, which he’s denied. In 2012, he filed for bankruptcy claiming up to $1 million in debts with no ability to pay.
Just days after being charged, Busey was photographed in an L.A. park with his trousers around his knees. He faces up to 18 months in the slammer and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
