JULIA ROBERTS is fuming at former Friends star Matthew Perry for boasting about their steamy affair — that happened 25 years ago — and claiming HE dumped HER!
In his new memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, the 53-year-old sitcom savage blabbed all the details of his Pretty Woman love-in, which he says ignited before they shot the iconic 1996 Super Bowl Friends episode.
At the time, Roberts was Tinseltown’s reigning It girl and could have her pick of any Hollywood stud — and that’s why insecure Matthew claims he pulled the plug.
“Dating Julia Roberts had been too much for me,” the recovering addict writes. “I had been constantly certain that she was going to break up with me.”
He felt, “I could never be enough. So instead of facing the inevitable agony of losing her, I broke up with the beautiful and brilliant Julia Roberts.”
Stunned Julia had a “look of confusion on her face,” he writes.
Now Julia’s fuming because she has kids and friends who will have this warped version of what happened — and all because Matthew has to stroke his ego, pals say.
“Julia is livid because she was the one who dumped him,” says an insider. “Everyone in her circle knows that.
“At the time, he was just a passing fling. Now, she thinks he’s just a desperate has-been.”
