HERE’S one for the history books! Former English teacher turned comedian JOY BEHAR, 80, is schooling DAME JUDI DENCH, 87, for royally slamming The Crown in a scathing published open letter! Fuming Netflix should preface each episode of the hit series with a disclaimer clarifying it’s a historical work of fiction, the Oscar winner blasts the TV drama’s “crude sensationalism,” insisting disclaimers would serve “as a mark of respect to a sovereign who served her people so dutifully for 70 years.”
But Joy, who taught English for years, thinks it’s the loyal royalist who needs schooling! “This dame disagrees with Dame Judi Dench,” scoffs the New York–born View host, “because they tell you at the top that it is not a documentary, and if you have a brain, you can figure out that the writers have used history.” Ouch. “If it’s documented history, then we can believe it,” she explains. “But we’re not going to believe a conversation that’s going on in the bedroom … Nobody was there but the two of them, so you don’t believe that part … But the historical part, you believe.” Got it? Good!
Joy also recently shocked her TV co-hosts, revealing, or possibly joking, how she’s “had sex with a few ghosts.” Fact? More likely historical fiction!
