4 dismembered pals fished from remote river were up to no good
THE butchered and bullet-riddled body parts of four missing men were found floating in an Oklahoma waterway — and now lawmen are fighting to unravel the grisly quadruple killing linked to a planned heist!
Local scrapyard owner Joe Kennedy, 67, went on the run after the mutilated corpses of Mike Sparks, 32, Alex Stevens, 29, and brothers Billy Chastain, 30, and Mark Chastain, 32, were fished from the Deep Fork River, according to cops. He was busted days later in Florida while driving a stolen car and is being held as “a person of interest.”
Lawmen say the murder victims left Billy Chastain’s Okmulgee home on bicycles after telling a pal they were going “to hit a lick big enough for all of them.” They then disappeared — until their bodies were discovered days later. Police Chief Joe Prentice explains “hit a lick” is a common term used by Oklahoma crooks to indicate a criminal score — but he adds lawmen have no idea what they were planning.
“I’ve worked over 80 murders in my career, involving multiple victims, dismemberment, but this case involves the highest number of victims, and it’s a very violent event,” says Prentice.
Investigators reveal Mark’s cell phone last “pinged” near Kennedy’s junkyard.
Prentice says “nothing remarkable” was observed inside the salvage yard, but blood was discovered at an adjoining property!
Detectives are still sifting through the victims’ watery grave for evidence, but say their search is complicated as the area is a popular dumping ground.
Kennedy denies knowing the murdered men or any involvement in the bloodbath, lawmen say.
According to court records, Kennedy was hit with a tenyear suspended sentence for shooting and wounding a would-be burglar at his Oklahoma biz in 2012.
Jessica Chastain, Mark’s widow, says, “I’m numb, I’m lost, I’m confused. It’s like I am trying to put a puzzle together with no pieces.”
Prentice vows authorities will continue working to discover “exactly what happened.”
