✚ BEING fat isn’t a behavioral problem and should be classified as a brain disorder — like ADHD or autism, doctors claim. Scientists at Baylor College of Medicine and Vanderbilt University say their study found excess eating leading to unhealthy weight gain can be triggered by changes made in the brain’s arcuate nucleus area during childhood. Baylor’s Dr. Harry MacKay explains, “We believe public health interventions to curb the worldwide obesity epidemic would benefit by considering obesity as a neurodevelopmental disorder.”
