WITCHY Barbra Streisand is raining on Cher’s parade and mocking the Believe singer’s hot romance with a 40-years-younger hunk by saying the slinky songbird “should act her age,” insiders tattle.
Sources snitch the 80-yearold Funny Girl couldn’t “stop laughing” after Cher, 76, tried to justify her romance with 36-year-old music producer Alexander “AE” Edwards against “haters.”
Cher tweeted: “I’m Not Defending us. Haters are Gonna Hate. Doesn’t Matter That we’re Happy & Not Bothering Anyone.”
But the shocking age gap has Cher battling a backlash and Barbra is “leading the pack,” tattles a tipster.
“Barbra is very judgmental, she thinks Cher should start acting her age and she’s been saying so to anyone that will listen,” notes the tipster.
“Cher is happy and maybe she’s even in love, but it makes her blood boil that her peers are judging her, especially her old nemesis Barbra.”
But the Yentl legend thinks the romance is weird and probably a sham “because everyone knows Cher is desperate for attention and to be relevant,” spills the spy.
Meanwhile, Barbra, who’s been married to hunky James Brolin, 82, since 1998, is bragging about her own “perfect” marriage, tattles the source. “Barbra’s totally up on her high horse. It’s clear she wants to put Cher down.”
Barbra’s catty insults are nothing new — she once flatout snubbed Cher.
The I Got You Babe singer revealed: “I’ve never even met her. We were almost introduced one night, and someone said, ‘Do you wanna meet Cher?’ and she said, ‘No.’ ”
Sources believe neighbor Barbra is one of the reasons Cher recently put her $85 million Malibu mansion on the block.
“Barbra has this celebrity enclave tied up in her sleeve, so much that Cher doesn’t like to even run errands anymore,” says the source.
“Malibu seems too small a place for these two egocentric divas. That’s likely one of the reasons why Cher wants to move.”
