SOCIAL-CLIMBING Jada Pinkett Smith is dumping her disgraced hubby, Will Smith, following the flop of his redemption tour, according to sources who say a battle is looming over his $350 million fortune!
Smith, 54, finally returned to the public eye after notoriously slapping Oscar presenter Chris Rock’s face at last February’s awards and getting booted from the Motion Picture Academy.
He hit the red carpet Nov. 30 to promote his new slavery-era flick, Emancipation, with Jada, 51, and kids Willow, 22, and Jaden, 24, in tow. But a source says the screening was mostly shunned by Tinseltown’s A-listers.
Adding injury to insult, critics trashed the film as “a hollow piece of genre filmmaking” and “a disservice to history.”
Meanwhile, Will tried to suck up to fans saying he “absolutely respects” people may not want to see his movie after the showbiz slap heard around the world.
With Will striking out on his return to the spotlight, sources say Jada sees failure looming for their marriage that’s already hanging by a thread.
“Jada is seeing now that Will isn’t likely to ever regain his standing and reputation in Hollywood, and the life they used to have is gone forever,” the source tattles.
“She wants to get out while the getting is good — move on and move up in her life with a more influential man!”
Ironically, spies dish Will seemed eager to toss Jada after their 2016 separation when she plunged into a steamy affair with 23-years-younger singer August Alsina before the couple reconciled.
“Will was ready to dump Jada cold back then, but she pleaded her way back into the marriage,” the source says. “And now, when times are tough she wants to leave him?
“He will fight her tooth and nail in divorce court and has plenty of ammo to throw at her.”
