HERO SHEEPDOG KILLS 8 COYOTES TO SAVE FLOCK!
Lucky dog survives after losing tail in savage showdown
AFIERCELY loyal sheepdog is miraculously alive after a life-ordeath battle with a bloodthirsty pack of coyotes that tried to maul the quivering flock of sheep and goats under his care!
Though badly wounded and torn to shreds, courageous Casper managed to kill an astonishing eight predators during the half-hour brawl against seemingly unwinnable odds!
The cream-colored Georgia pooch — with one blue eye and one brown eye — proved he is a very good boy, indeed, when he unhesitatingly launched into a dogfight with the cutthroat carnivores as they set upon his flock.
Casper eventually sent the cowardly coyotes squealing with their tails between their legs, but for a while it did not seem the pooch would survive the savage showdown!
He even disappeared for two days, hiding the way animals often do when they are deathly ill. When Casper finally limped home, he was a horrifying heap of gaping wounds.
“We knew he was hurt because we found parts of his tail and blood and other things, so we were worried,” says John Wierwille, who owns the farm where Casper works.
“He was kinda looking at me like, ‘Boss, stop looking at how bad I look, just take care of me.’ It looked like a coyote grabbed his skin and peeled it right off!”
The LifeLine Animal Project, whose mission is to save animals from euthanasia whenever possible, raised $15,000 to cover the 80-pound hero’s vet bills.
“I can’t even explain how good it is to see him right now, because I felt like there was no way he was going to live,” says Wierwille.
The Atlanta Coyote Project says the critters don’t usually roam in such large packs — which makes Casper’s heroism even more impressive!
“This is extremely unusual behavior for coyotes,” says Chris Mowry, a professor of biology at Berry College.
