REALITY queen Kim Kardashian’s connection to the twisted Balenciaga child porn scandal perfectly illustrates the old saying: Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas.
But, frankly, it’s not exactly clear who’s the kinky canine and who’s the blood-sucking insect.
Certainly, the luxury
Spanish fashion house caught the brunt of the blame for running internet clothing advertisements featuring little girls clutching teddy bears dressed in bondage gear — and background images showing legal documents related to kiddie porn.
Balenciaga’s corporate capos eventually removed the images and oozed public apologies.
But Kimmy was caught in the crossfire since she frequently partners with the brand.
Instead of giving an immediate response, antiSemite Kanye West’s ex-wife took several days before tweeting a mild rebuke and then issuing a stronger one as the firestorm grew.
Says the CYA Kardashian, “I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened. As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard, and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society.”
But instead of severing ties with the brand as her outraged fans demanded, Kim says she “appreciates” the company’s “apology” and was “reevaluating” her relationship with Balenciaga.
But by the same token, shouldn’t Balenciaga be reexamining its relationship with her? After all, Kim’s built her career and billion-dollar fortune on HER sexuality.
Is there a picture of her where she’s not wearing sexy outfits — or barely anything at all? Didn’t she star in a porn video? The Kardashian empire is rooted in the release of a sex tape featuring Kim and rapper Ray J, which just happened to be released before her family’s reality series launched in 2007.
So after 15 years of exploiting and profiting off sexuality, it’s little surprise Kim’s caught up in another kinky scandal.
And it’s also no surprise she’s hesitant about cutting ties with Balenciaga — because, apparently, there’s another buck to be made!
