Wants to be dad again at 77
COMEDY icon Steve Martin had his first child, Mary, a decade ago and loves being a dad so much, the senior citizen’s talking with wife Anne Stringfield about having another one — at the age of 77, spies tattle.
Now co-starring with pal Martin Short on Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, the funnyguy “was a late-in-life, first-time dad and even that happened on a fluke,” dishes an insider.
“He never even thought he’d want kids and for years he didn’t, but now he kicks himself for waiting so long.”
Sources reveal The Jerk star is completely wrapped around ten-year-old daughter Mary’s little finger.
“Every day with his daughter is a joy and brings something new and fun. He’s like a big kid himself,” blabs the spy.
“Naturally, he’d like her to have a sibling. Plus, he’s missing having a baby around. Kids inspire him. He’d like to fill the house with tiny feet, though he’d settle for one more because this isn’t just his call.”
Martin wed his magazine writer second wife in 2007. They had Mary in 2012 when Anne was 40.
“Now he’s telling friends they’re finally getting ready to have another one,” tattles the insider. “It’s no surprise as he can’t pass by a toddler without getting gaga himself.”
Steve’s said playing a dad in the 1989 flick Parenthood changed the way he felt about kids.
“I was not a kid person and when I did Parenthood, I would see these kids, who were like little freakish things, and I’d realize, ‘They’re not so bad, I actually like them,’ ” he reveals.
“Now, I see a kid and I’m staring at it like, ‘Oooh! Ahhh!’”
