TRENDY FASTING IS DANGEROUS!

Poses high risk of early death

-

INTERMITTENT fasting — the trendy diet favored by Hollywood stars including Jennifer Aniston, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg — may raise the risk of death from heart disease by as much as 83 percent!

The popular weight-control method involves eating within strict time windows or skipping meals entirely. But an international group of researchers — who studied the dietary habits of 24,000 people aged 40 and older for 15 years — found those who ate one meal per day were 30 percent more likely to die from any cause than those who chowed down on three. But forgoing breakfast appeared to be the most dangerous gamble of them all!

University of Tennessee professor Dr. Yangbo Sun explains participants who passed on lunch or dinner displayed an increase in their overall risk of early death — but those who skipped the first meal of the day were substantially more likely to develop fatal cardiovascular diseases!

Fasters may end up wolfing down a relatively large amount of food in one sitting, Skipping breakfast is an especially poor choice,

researchers say and the researchers theorize eating too much too quickly puts a metabolic strain on the body. The scientists warn consuming three daily meals too close together can also trigger poor health outcomes.

University of Iowa epidemiologist Dr. Wei Bao says, “Our results are significant even after adjustments for dietary and lifestyle factors — smoking, alcohol use, physical activity levels, energy intake and diet quality.”

And Sun adds, “Based on these findings, we recommend eating at least two to three meals spread throughout the day.”
