QUEEN Consort Camilla abruptly canceled her entire calendar of public appearances, officially blaming a COVID relapse, but palace courtiers tell GLOBE the recovering alcoholic is boozing again after a screamfest with hubby King Charles over royal renegades Harry and Meghan!
After falling off the wagon, the monarch’s 75-year-old wife has become a “sloppy gin-soaked drunk,” according to a courtier, who says Camilla “poses a real threat to the monarchy” and could derail Charles’ May 2 coronation if she “doesn’t sober up fast.”
Unfortunately, Charles does not have the option to ship
Camilla off to another rehab stint in India — even though her stay last November doesn’t appear to have stuck — since there isn’t enough time, the courtier says.
Another palace insider insists Camilla is “too plastered to leave her apartments” and “is talking crazy” about her hated stepson Harry and his American-born wife, who she wants banned from the coronation.
“However, His Majesty is adamant Harry and Meghan will attend the ceremony,” says the insider. “He sees it as the last, best hope for an enduring family peace.”
But Camilla believes Harry plans to upstage her at the event as revenge for the pain the prince feels his evil stepmother inflicted on his beloved mom, Princess Diana, who blamed Charles’ mistress for her divorce, says the spy.
“There’s no convincing her she’s not the target of some wicked plot,” the insider dishes. “Charles is at wit’s end and desperate to avoid more public humiliation.”
Charles’ scheming former mistress’ booze binges have led to loud, embarrassing blowouts in the palace with Charles and his heir to the throne, oldest son Prince William, sources tattle.
“Charles did everything
he could to warn palace staff to keep mum about Camilla’s problem and hush-hush her loud, drunken attacks,” notes the insider.
“Camilla tends to be an arrogant witch when she’s sober, and when she’s soused — watch out! The maids hate going to her quarters because of her verbal abuse when she’s trashed.”
Camilla has a history of pulling out of public events, blaming health problems.
In 2019, she canceled attending a remembrance service at Westminster Abbey, again due to a chest infection, and also a gala dinner celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Prince Albert at the London Library, where she is the vice-patron. “In royal circles, a health problem is code for ‘she’s drunk again,’” says the courtier. “Charles fears she’s never going to get clean and sober and now has embraced the saying: Once a drunk, always a drunk!”
