IDOL MOMMY SCANDAL IS PERRY SILLY!
CRUSTY Katy Perry is being slammed for mom shaming an American Idol contestant with a crude sexual innuendo, but the entire ruckus is an example of how political correctness has gone nuts!
The bizarre brouhaha exploded when Katy, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan were judging potential contestants for the hit talent series’ current season, which began March 26.
Hopeful Sara Beth Liebe,
25, was flattered by the judges, who remarked she only looked 16.
Sara replied, “You guys are my favorite. I have three kids.”
Joking around, Katy got up and made like she was going to lie down on the judges’ table.
“If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m going to pass out,” shot Sara.
To which Katy quipped, “Honey, you’ve been laying on the table too much.”
Whether Katy’s joke was funny or fell flat doesn’t matter.
Although Perry’s notoriously thin-skinned herself, she’s an entertainer and was trying to get a laugh. That’s her job.
But Sara — who made the show with her renditions of You Know I’m No Good and Bennie and the Jets — made a big stink on social media accusing Katy of being a nasty “mom shamer” who deliberately embarrassed her on national TV.
“It was hurtful,” says
Sara. “I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool and I think that mom shaming is super lame.
“I think that it’s hard enough to be a mom and it’s hard enough to be a woman.”
To be fair, Sara has indeed chosen a tough road. Starting as a teen mom at age 18 with her firstborn and having three kids by the time she’s 25, she’s now trying to break into showbiz.
But guess what, Sara — Katy is also a mom and a woman, just like you.
She’s the mother of twoyear-old Daisy, fathered by Pirates of the Caribbean hunk Orlando Bloom.
Still, Sara is painting herself as a victim over a harmless adult joke. She‘s got politically correct ninnies all riled up like Katy attacked motherhood.
For goodness sake! It was just a joke! Maybe bad or maybe crude — but a joke!
And to all the politically correct police who don’t think so — we say get a life!
