Charlene takes off ring & snubs Albert as palace pooh-poohs split
MONACO’S runaway Princess Charlene threw fresh fuel on divorce talk by taking off her wedding ring and skipping a major public event with playboy hubby Albert — just two days after rattled palace mouthpieces officially denied the bizarre marriage was on the brink!
New buzz about a looming breakup exploded after Charlene, 45, appeared without the bauble during a March 24 outing in Milan, Italy, the day after a shocking French magazine investigation revealed she and the 65-year-old prince were splitting.
Palace PR spinners quickly fired off a denial, slamming the story as “malicious rumors.” Charlene and Albert attempted to show all was well when she wore the ring as they attended the Monte-Carlo
Woman of the Year Awards.
But the following evening, Charlene snubbed Albert, forcing him to take his sister Caroline as his date to the glitzy Rose Ball!
Now an insider insists even when she does appear with Albert, it’s “a charade!
“They can deny it until they’re blue in the face, but there are problems in the marriage,” says a spy. “That’s why she ditched her ring. She doesn’t feel like wearing it and knows the talk it will generate. She knows what she’s doing.”
As GLOBE recently reported, paranoid Albert’s been spying on Charlene by getting people close to the mom of two to tattle on her every move fearing she’ll run away again.
Charlene spent the first nine months of 2021 in her native South Africa and then four more in a Swiss clinic, with Albert claiming she was battling an ear, nose and throat infection.
But as GLOBE reported, she fled Monaco after being rocked by reports Albert fathered a third love child — now in her teens — with a Brazilian gal while courting Charlene. He strongly denies the woman’s claim in an Italian court, but already supports two love children.
Sources say Charlene’s only staying for the sake of her eight-year-old twins, Gabriella and Jacques — and her failure to wear the ring is a signal to the public and the prince.
“When she takes off the ring, the one Albert gave her when he proposed, it’s sending a message like, ‘Watch out. I left you once, I can do it again,’ ” adds the source.
