SHE-CATS Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez have hated each other for years, but sources say their ferocious feud’s hit overdrive as they vie to be the sexiest 50-something while verbally ripping each other to shreds!
Sources snitch the dueling, 54-year-old divas are boring their toadies to tears with their over-the-top attempts to dress as sexy as possible and endless nip/tucks.
“As much as J.Lo and Mariah can’t stand each other, the truth is they’ve got an awful lot in common, especially when it comes to their self-obsession,” says an insider. “Neither seems able to accept they’re getting older. They still cling to the idea they can compete with 20-year-olds to be the hottest babe in the room.”
At the same time, they’re publicly ripping each other.
“Mariah loves to make fun of J.Lo and her constant attention seeking,” dishes an insider. “She thinks it’s pathetic and doesn’t seem to see that she does the same thing. And J.Lo writes off Mariah as desperate and old when they’re not all that different.”
As GLOBE readers know, J.Lo’s 18-month marriage to Ben Affleck, 51, is in major peril as he tires of her selfobsessed antics. And Mariah’s long affair with toyboy dancer Bryan Tanaka, 40, bit the dust in December as he also grew tired of living in her shadow.
“It’s astonishing how tonedeaf and self consumed they are about outdoing each other, when it’s plain as day they’d be better served taking care of their struggling love lives,” notes the insider.
“They know plenty of people in common, so all their trash talk gets passed back and forth. God forbid they ever end up in the same room.”
