HAGGARD hitmaker Brian Wilson — the musical genius behind the Beach Boysy — is so addled by dementia, a, the 81-year-old can no longer care for himself, according to his heartbroken loved ones.
Wilson’s family has filed for conservatorship hip of the ’60s pop pioneer — less than a month after the death of his 77-year-old wife and manager, Melinda Ledbetter.
According to legal docs, the shy savant — who masterminded the band’s surf rock sound — suffers from a “major neurocognitive disorder” and is receiving medication to slow the “progression of illness,” but he’s unable to properly provide for his “personal needs for physical health, food, clothing or shelter.”
The filing includes notes from the legend’s physicians, who report, “He is easily distracted, often even when aware of surroundings, and its purpose.

After Ledbetter died Jan. 30, the Good Vibrations composer called his longtime love his “savior” for helping him overcome his drug demons and lengthy battle with mental illness — including delusional paranoia, depression and schizoaffective disorder.
The tormented artist admits his spouse was his “anchor” — and now insiders say he’s adrift without her!
Wilson adopted five children with Ledbetter after they tied the knot in 1995. He’s also dad to Wilson Phillips songbirds Wendy, 54, and Carnie, 55, from his first marriage, to Marilyn Rovell.
Kin say trusted representatives LeeAnn Hard and Jean Sievers will serve as Wilson’s co-conservators — and insist there will be “no extreme changes” to his household.
A court hearing on the matter is scheduled for April 26.
