Bloodthirsty brute kills captive canid after beer bender
WYOMING hunter Cody Roberts is being branded Meanest Man in America after being accused of taping an injured wolf’s mouth shut, torturing the helpless critter and flaunting his cruelty at a local saloon before ending the horror by shooting it dead.
Before snuffing the terrified animal, cops say the 42-year-old terrorized the exhausted, helpless animal at his local bar in Daniel, where he proudly held the defenseless creature by the scruff of the neck — as it cowered like a beaten puppy — while he guzzled beer.
Yet, he was only charged with being in possession of a live wolf and fined a measly $250 because animal cruelty laws don’t apply to wild animals, say sources.
The horrific Feb. 29 tale began after Roberts, a father of one and trucking company owner, reportedly ran down and injured the wild wolf with his snowmobile.
He later dragged or carried the animal, which appeared exhausted, to the Green River Bar, where he showed off his terrified captive and celebrated with brew.
He then took the animal behind the bar where he tortured it before ending its misery with a bullet, say sources.
Incredibly, Roberts’ cruelty was later applauded by his relative Jeanne Ivy-Roberts, who reenacted his brutal treatment of the critter at the same bar.
She posted pictures on Facebook of her with her mouth taped and holding a wolf skin, saying: “I love and support you Cody.”
Meanwhile, furious animal rights activists slammed wildlife officials in a letter, saying: “Such an anemic response on the part of law enforcement will be seen by some as tacit approval of his crime and can only motivate similar, repugnant behavior.”
