STILL licking her wounds following devastating career setbacks, Jennifer Lopez is desperately trying to turn over a new leaf and become humbler for the sake of her marriage and her bank balance, insiders tattle.
The 54-year-old hottie got a stinging dose of reality when her This Is Me … Now album flopped, debuting at No. 38 on Billboard before getting knocked off the chart entirely.
Her related documentary about her love affair with now-hubby Ben Affleck was also panned by viewers and critics, and ticket sales for her tour have been disappointing.
“It’s been humbling for Jennifer especially as she financed the $20 million multimedia project herself,” spills an insider. “And she still has to go out and do the tour.
“It’s been years since she’s performed Jenny from the Block in front of paying audiences and now she has to sing it every single night of her rebranded ‘greatest hits’ tour.”
But the flops have had a positive effect, insiders snicker.
“This has humanized her, at least around the people who have known her for years,” dishes the insider. “Jennifer’s all about self-improvement, getting better at her job each and every day, and minding the details like a perfectionist.
“But this time Jennifer found she can’t do everything she sets her mind to.”
Sources also insist her world-class failure has made her “a better person and better wife” to Ben, 51.
“She’s not harping on him like she used to and is treating him with a lot more respect,” says the tattler. “After all, he’s won two Academy Awards. Jennifer has none.
“You’re going to see a new woman come out of this mess, that’s for sure.”
