Cat returns to his family after five-year adventure
AMISSING rescue cat named Sam just completed an incredible journey — he’s finally back in the laps of his astonished owners after five years, five states and 1,200 miles.
“It is a miracle!” purrs Cindy Hall, who has been pining for the pet ever since Sam went on the lam five years ago.
“We had him for seven years and then one day he got out,” says Cindy.
Long after the cat-astrophe of losing Sam, Cindy and hubby Jeff Hall moved from Arizona to Nevada — which still doesn’t explain how the now 12-year-old Russian Blue furball they adopted as a kitten wound up in Arkansas.
And while that mystery may never be solved, at least the cat came back — even though they thought he was a goner!
Sam was hanging around an Arkansas gas station when he befriended two volunteer animal rescue workers, who took him to a shelter and renamed him Luke.
Then they took Luke to the Jacksonville Animal Hospital, where the staff scanned the scaredycat’s microchip.
“We contacted his family to find out how Luke wound up being left at that gas station. They were thrilled to know he was alive!” the shelter posted on Facebook.
“It is a miracle that he walked up to these two women that were in rescue,” says Cindy. “When we got him, it was
surreal. It’s such a beautiful story. You just can’t underestimate the power of a microchip!”
Despite the long journey across multiple states back to his home scratching post, Sam seems to have settled quickly into his old routine of accepting chin rubs.
“Having him home makes our family feel complete,” mews Cindy.
