Meeting to be held on 4th Tuesday of every month
Greenville residents will soon be able to have a first look at upcoming developments through a monthly public meeting.
Debuting Aug. 22, the Project Previews Meeting will take place on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Prisma Health Welcome Center at Unity Park from 4 to 6 p.m. The meeting will utilize an open house format, meaning residents can stop by at any time.
Residents can give feedback and ask questions directly to developers. City staff will also be present.
Projects gaining major public attention might be presented separately from 6 to 7 p.m.
These meetings come as an effort to increase transparency.
Per the new development code, the following applications require a public meeting:
● Zoning map amendment (rezoning), except those associated with an annexation application;
● Preliminary plat for a major subdivision;
● Street naming or re-naming;
● Major Urban Design Certificate of Appropriateness for a multi-unit residential project containing 12 or more units;
● Site Plan application for a multiunit residential project containing 12 or more units; and
● Special exception permit (such as certain types of signs or a business with operation hours between midnight and 5 a.m.)
Developers presenting at the Project Preview meeting will have met the procedural step for applications requiring a neighborhood meeting, meaning an additional neighborhood meeting will not be required.
Those interested can find a list of the projects being presented in the meeting on the city’s website calendar. The list will be posted one week before meetings.
