Taylor caps career at Harvard
Henry Taylor made an impact on The Game last week.
A 2014 Brunswick School graduate, Taylor caught two touchdown passes for Harvard in its 45-27 win over Ivy League rival Yale last week at Fenway Park in Boston, Mass.
The two-touchdown receiving performance capped Taylor’s productive career for the Crimson. The speedy 5-foot-11, 195-pound senior had 41 receiving yards in his final game for Harvard, which registered a record of 6-4 this fall.
Against Yale, Taylor’s 22-yard touchdown catch concluded an 84-yard drive and gave Harvard a 7-0 lead on the Bulldogs with 5:56 remaining in the first quarter. His 19-yard reception from senior quarterback Tom Stewart put Harvard in front, 21-14, with 37 seconds left in the second quarter.
For the season, Taylor tallied 26 receptions for 388 yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 14.9 yards per reception for Harvard, which finished its season with three consecutive victories.
Taylor’s best game of the Crimson’s 2018 season came in a 52-18 home win against Columbia on Nov. 3. The Harvard wide receiver had five receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns.
In Harvard’s road victory against Brown in September, Taylor caught three passes for 45 yards, one of which was a touchdown. He also had touchdown receptions against Cornell and Princeton.
Taylor, who posted 337 receiving yards with three touchdowns in 2017, finished his Harvard career with 45 receptions for 725 yards and reached the end zone 10 times.
A psychology major, Taylor averaged 16 yards a reception during his Harvard career.
While at Brunswick, Taylor was a three-year starter for the Bruins’ football, basketball and track
and field teams. His senior season for the Bruins in the fall of 2013 saw him catch 31 passes for 866 yards (27 yards a catch) and 14 touchdowns. In 2012, he amassed 704 receiving yards and 35 receptions (20 yards per catch), to go along with 12 touchdowns.
He was selected as Brunswick’s Team MVP his senior year and earned All-New England Team honors twice.
LAGANO A FIXTURE ON HOYAS’ DEFENSE
Jessica Lagano, who graduated from Greenwich High School in 2016, recently concluded another strong season for the Georgetown University field hockey team.
Lagano plays right back for the Hoyas, who posted a
record of 11-7 this fall — their best finish in recent memory.
Georgetown allowed only 36 goals in 18 games, with Lagano, a junior, playing a key role on the backline. She appeared in 15 games for the Hoyas.
As a sophomore on the squad last season, Lagano was named to the 2017 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. She was also a Big East All-Academic selection. Lagano was earned Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I academic honors as a freshman in 2016. At Greenwich High, Lagano was a three-season field hockey starter and key contributor to the squad’s success.
