Choral Society’s holiday concerts
The Greenwich Choral Society will hold its annual Holiday Concert, with this year’s theme, “Joyeux Noël: From the Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame” at 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday at Christ Church Greenwich, 254 E. Putnam Ave. A festival of choral music by French composers, the concerts will feature the 100-voice Choral Society with soloists, strings, harp and organ. Francis Poulenc’s sense of humor and love of life shine through all his music, and his setting of the “Gloria” is no exception with its captivating mixture of solemnity and mischievous enthusiasm. Also featured will be works by Charpentier, Fauré, Gounod, and Saint-Saëns, under the direction of Paul F. Mueller, music director and conductor. Tickets are $45 and $38, with special prices for students. Tickets can be ordered online at www.GreenwichChoralSociety.org or by calling 203-6225136.
