STORYLINES: Since the CIAC went to a playoff system: and not just two teams qualifying for the championship game: Newtown has been to seven semifinals and has lost each time. Newtown had also struggled to beat LL teams (3-7 since the move to Class LL), but the Nighthawks knocked off threetime defending champions Darien to reach the postseason. Greenwich is where it expected to be this season: with a chance to return to the Class LL finals. The Cardinals lost last season to Darien and has been on a mission all season to have a chance to take home their first title since 2007.
