Ross buys a tree; ‘Gifford leaving ‘Today’

Scene… Belle Haven resident and Motown diva Diana Ross was seen buying a 19-foot Christmas tree at McArdle’s Florist & Garden Center on Arch Street in Greenwich last week.

Out there… A holiday roller-skating party will take place at the Old Greenwich Civic Center on Harding Road from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21. The event will feature skating to holiday tunes, photos with Santa Claus, skating games, prizes and goodies. Admission of $10 includes skate rental.

Scene… The popular boy band 98 Degrees, with brothers Nick and Drew Lachey (the “Dancing With The Stars” season two Mirrorball champion) and Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons, were seen at Hotel Zero Degrees on Main Avenue in Norwalk last week. The four original members of the band stayed there before their performanc­e at the Ridgefield Playhouse as part of their Christmas 2018 tour.

Out there… It will be Greenwich Hospital Day at the Pop-Up Shop from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Orchard Mile at 371 Greenwich Ave. A total of 10 percent of the profits on purchases will be donated to the hospital’s Under the Stars fundraiser, which will be held in May. A conversati­on with Norman Rothe, president and CEO of Greenwich Hospital, and Dr. Laura Meyer, a fertility specialist, will take place at 1 p.m. at the event.

Scene… Riverside resident Kathie Lee Gifford announced last week that she is leaving her spot on “Hoda & Kathie Lee,” which is part of NBC’s “Today” show. The 65-year-old author, singer and actress, who has cohosted the fourth hour since 2008, will depart on April 7, 2019. Jenna Hager Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush and granddaugh­ter of former President George H.W. Bush, is rumored to be her replacemen­t.

Out there… The Greenwich Botanical Center will host “Sip & Shop,” an evening of holiday shopping, at its center at 130 Bible St. in Cos Cob from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. The shopping event will include vintage button trees by Carol Memishian and Barbara Gotch, and items from Habitat Greenwich, Cathy B. Graham Studio, Hazel Jarvis artists artwork and stationery, GBC’s holiday greens, botanicals and holiday plants. Proceeds from the event will support Community Centers Inc. of Greenwich and the Greenwich Botanical Center. For more info, call 203-8699242.

Out there… Pop singer David Archuleta, the 2008 “American Idol” runner-up, will perform at The Warehouse at the Fairfield Theater Company at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Archuleta will perform songs from his recently released CD “Winter in the Air.” For tickets, call 844-379-370.

Winter wonderland­s… Caren’s Cos Cobber on East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich is beautifull­y decorated for the holidays — inside and out!
