Caren’s Cos Cobber will open early and dish up meals and drinks all day on Wednesday — all to benefit the Greenwich Emergency Medical Service.
The restaurant will donate 50 percent of its proceeds that day to GEMS.
“This fundraiser helps GEMS purchase ambulances and the specialized equipment inside, which are all funded solely through generous donations,” GEMS Executive Director Tracy Scheitinger said.
The restaurant, which rarely opens for breakfast, will begin serving at 8 a.m. on Wednesday and stay open until the bar closes, usually about 10 p.m. The all-day fundraiser has paid off for GEMS in past years, with loyal customers and GEMS supporters helping to raise as much as $5,000 in a day, according to restaurant owner Caren Vizzo.

Every year, residents gather at Memorial Day events all over town to pay tribute to members of the military who made the ultimate sacrifice. This year, there will be parades in Byram, Glenville and Old Greenwich and a ceremony in Cos Cob and Indian Harbor Yacht Club.
Chickahominy will also show its patriotic spirit, as the Chickahominy Reunion Association holds its annual Memorial Day event at 1 p.m. on May 27 in the Hamilton Avenue Veterans Park, after the parade in Old Greenwich.
