With final exams looming for public and private school students, the Greenwich Library is staying open late to provide some extra study time.

The library will extend its hours for students who want to get together for group studying and for those who need a quiet area to hit the books.

“We are excited to welcome Greenwich students to the library as they prepare for final exams,” library Director Barbara Ormerod-Glynn said. “We often hear from students how much they value and depend

on the library as a calm place to study with friends or on their own. This is the time of the year when our students need us the most and we are pleased to serve as their community hub.”

This Tuesday through Thursday, the library will remain open until 10 p.m., for private school students. And to help public school students making that final push for exams, it will stay open late again from June 10 through June 13.

Staff will be on hand to help with reference questions, and the library café will remain open later, too, until 7 p.m. on those nights.

Extended hours will also be offered at the Cos Cob Library, which will be open until 8 p.m. on May 28 and June 11, and at the Byram Shubert Library, which will be open until 8 p.m.

on June 10 through June 12.

Everyone is welcome during the extended hours, but it may be noisy with students studying in groups both during the extended hours and during the day.

Want to take a peek into some private enclaves? The annual Grandiflora Garden Tour, which benefits the Greenwich Botanical Center, is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 8.

The garden tour is a key fundraiser each year for the Botanical Center, which was formed in 1957 as the Garden Education Center.

Tickets start at $75 for the tour, which will take place in private gardens throughout town. The gardens were put together by landscape designers such as John Conte, Sandy Lindh, Carrie Greenwald and Louis C. Fusco, honorary chair of the event.

“We are thrilled to show a

breathtaking slate of exclusive private gardens this year,” Grandiflora co-chair Kim Conte said. “Also, a very special pollinator garden space planted on public property will be included to demonstrate how anyone can plant their own pollinator seedlings to proliferate healthy home gardens while nurturing bees and butterflies.”

There will also be a Patron Breakfast catered by Happiness Is on June 7 tour and an exclusive private lunch at Tony’s at the JHouse on June 8. For more information and tickets, visit https://greenwich botanicalcenter.org/grand iflora-garden-tour-2019/

“Funds raised through this event make it possible for our entire community to connect with the environment, which is vital to their health and wellbeing,” said Meg McAuley Kaicher, president of the center’s board.
