Scene… Artist and Greenwich native Alex Sanzo will host his solo open-air abstract-art show titled “The Light of Day” from noon to 4 p.m. June 9 at a private estate at 63 John St. in Greenwich. Sanzo’s large abstract paintings will be spread throughout the landscape of the 13-acre backcountry estate. Sanzo, whose career as a music producer and songwriter took him to Los Angeles, is a Greenwich High graduate. Refreshments will be served at the event, which is open to the public. Out there… The Orthopaedic Foundation and the Fairfield County Sports Commission are hosting a free seminar called “Injury Prevention/Healthy and Active Lifestyles” at 7 p.m. Monday at the Greenwich Library featuring snowboarder Julia Marino of Westport. Marino, a member of the 2018 U.S. Olympic team, is a five-time X Games medalist. She will join a panel discussion led by Dr. Kevin Plancher, a Greenwich resident, on how to prevent injuries and stay active. The event is free and open to the public. Scene… Riverside resident and TV host Kathie Lee Gifford was seen dining on the patio at Tony’s at the JHOUSE in Riverside last week. After retiring from her stint as co-host of the fourth hour of the “Today” show in April, Gifford is planning to move to her new brownstone home in Nashville to pursue her writing and musical career.
Out there… The 12th annual Spirit of Hope Benefit fundraiser for Liberation Programs takes place starting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Woodway Country Club in Darien. The evening will feature cocktails, a vocal performance by students from Darien High School, dinner, an auction and speakers on addiction and the opioid epidemic. Also, the event will honor Maggie Young, chief recovery officer at Liberation Programs, for over 25 years of work in addiction prevention and treatment; Gary Mendell, founder and CEO of Shatterproof, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending the devastation addiction causes families; and Trey Laird, CEO and founder of The Lighthouse, which offers a sober living environment for professionals. On the trails… The Greenwich Riding and Trails Association will host its annual Horse Show & Elegant Tented Luncheon.
