Gov. Ned Lamont announced Friday his plan to move up the reopening plans for Phase 2 to June 17 to avoid the reopening falling on the same weekend at Father’s Day.
“We’ll release additional safety guidance for businesses that fall under Phase 2 in the next couple of days,” he said in a post on Twitter.
The Phase 2 reopening includes allowing indoor dining and the reopening of gyms, movie theaters, hotels, nail salons and tattoo shops. Also included in Phase 2 are pools, social clubs and formal events, including weddings.
The June 17 reopening for indoor dining puts Connecticut slightly ahead of reopening plans for neighboring New York and Massachusetts.
The state said there will be strict guidelines for social distancing and capacity limitations.
