Josephine Ann Usowski, lifelong resident of Greenwich, CT passed peacefully at home on July 18, 2022, surrounded by her family. Jo (as she preferred to be called) was the third daughter born to Estelle and John Connor on July 1, 1939. She recently turned 83.

Jo met her sweetheart Theodore “Ted” Usowski while attending Greenwich High School. They graduated together with the class of 1957, and were later married in October 1962. They remained married for 49 years, living in Riverside together, until Ted’s passing in 2012.

After graduating high school, Jo attended the Xray technology program at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven, CT. She graduated top of her class and passed the registry. She had a long career in radiology at Stamford Hospital.

Jo had many gifts, talents and interests including impressive textile creations done by sewing, knitting, crochet and needlepoint. She loved swimming and had a beautiful, seamless stroke. Jo had a strong interest and passion for photography. She spent hours walking the beach and exploring streets right in her Riverside neighborhood. She was very proud of her home, and spent countless hours gardening and tending to Ted’s beloved peonies. Jo was a dedicated parishioner at St. Catherine of Siena Church, and participated in the Social Seniors group events and trips.

Jo is survived by her daughter Sharon and husband Robert Franco, her son Connor and his wife Karen and grandchildren Sean and Carter, as well as her daughter Laura. Her beloved feline companion Ben will soon live in Laura’s loving home.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 11AM in the main sanctuary at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greenwich Point Conservancy, (Greenwichpoint.org, PO Box 377, Old Greenwich, CT 06870, 203-637-3400). Jo would love it if you would visit Jo and Ted’s bench just past the chimes building on the back side of the point. Take a moment to pause and enjoy the magnificent view of the cove and Riverside shoreline.
