Kenneth Richard Pratley of Milo, Maine passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 11th, 2022, at the age of 80. He was born and raised in Greenwich, CT by his parents Catherine Helen Merritt Pratley and John Aloysius Pratley. The family grew up in the Fourth Ward area of Greenwich and were proud of it. Ken was predeceased by his parents and his oldest brother Jack (aka Mouse). He is survived by his siblings, William, Francis (aka Doonie), sister Pat, and Preston. He is also survived by his ex-wife Barbara, and his two sons, Peter and Philip (and wife Lorin), and 3 grandsons: Ben, Sean, and Daniel, all of Greenwich.

Ken attended St. Mary’s High School in Greenwich and was a multi-sport athlete, excelling at football, ice hockey and baseball. After high school, he served in the Army National Guard and he was particularly proud of his service, earning numerous commendations for his marksmanship. He worked for Sheet Metal Local #38 for most of his working life as a Sheet Metal foreman, predominantly in the TriState area.

He lived in Greenwich most of his life until later years when he started to migrate north to be closer to his beloved hunting camp in Maine. The migration included stops in Banksville, NY, Weathersfield, VT, and ultimately settling in Milo, ME. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, and hunter. His trips to Maine were carefully planned around the appropriate hunting and fishing seasons. In his adult life, his enjoyment of sports continued including playing paddle tennis, and softball with his brothers and many friends for the Knights of Columbus, and Greenwich Drug Store teams. He also enjoyed numerous fishing trips to Canada with friends Bubba Ryan, Skip Murdoch, and others. On one particular trip in Labrador, he said the brook trout fishing was so good they were catching fish on almost every other cast, and even caught several on the back cast unintentionally. When asked if he would ever go back, he said “No, the fishing could not get any better, and it would never compare to that trip.”

A special thanks to his caregivers in Maine, who went the extra mile to make him comfortable in his last days.

The family is planning a celebration of life in the Spring.
