Yale wins ECAC quarterfin­al series opener

Jordan Ray scored a pair of goals as the No. 2 Yale women's hockey team beat Harvard 4-2 in the opening game of their ECAC quarterfin­al series in New Haven on Friday.

Grace Lee and Charlotte Welch also scored for the Bulldogs (27-2-1), who overcame a first-period twogoal deficit. Pia Dukaric finished with 20 saves.

Kristin Della Rovere and Anne Bloomer scored for Harvard (7-20-3)

Quinnipiac 2, St. Lawrence 1: At Hamden, Alexa Hoskin and Sadie Peart both scored the Bobcats as they won the opening game of their ECAC Hockey quarterfin­al series.

Logan Anders finished with 23 saves for Quinnipiac (28-7-0).

Men’s hockey

No. 2 Quinnipiac 4, Union 1: At

Schenectad­y, N.Y., Yaniv Perets finished with 19 saves as the Bobcats extended their win streak to nine games on Friday.

Charles-Alexis Legault, Joey Cipollone, Michael Lombardi and Ethan deJong all scored for Quinnipiac (27-3-3, 19-2-0 ECAC).

Yale 4, Colgate 2: At New Haven, Ian Carpentier, Reilly Connors and Ryan Conroy all scored in the third period to help the Bulldogs rally for an ECAC win on Friday.

Connor Sullivan opened the scoring for Yale (7-17-4, 6-13-2 ECAC). Colgate fell to 14-15-4 (11-8-2 ECAC).

Sacred Heart 2, AIC 2 (AIC wins SO 2-1): At Springfiel­d, Mass., Dante Fantauzzi and Neil Shea scored for the Pioneers in a shootout loss to the Yellowjack­ets on Friday.

Sacred Heart (16-14-3, 14-8-3 AHA) held a slim lead for second place in the conference over AIC (16-12-7, 138-4 AHA) heading into Saturday's regular-season finale.

Men’s basketball

Niagara 76, Fairfield 68: At Lewiston, N.Y., Noah Thomasson's 25 points helped Niagara defeat Fairfield on Friday night.

Thomasson was 11 of 18 shooting and 3 of 3 from the free throw line for the Purple Eagles (15-12, 10-8 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Braxton Bayless shot 7 of 12 from the field and 5 for 6 from the line to add 19 points. Joe Kasperzyk finished 5 of 7 from the field to finish with 11 points.

Allan Jeanne-Rose finished with 17 points for the Stags (12-16, 8-10). TJ Long added 17 points for Fairfield. In addition, Jalen Leach had eight points.
