Yale, QU women fall in ECAC semis
Stephanie Markowski’s goal in the second overtime helped Clarkson stun Yale 4-3 in the semifinals of the ECAC Women’s Hockey Championship at Ingalls Rink on Friday.
Markowski scored an equalizer at the 16:19 mark in the third period to force the extra session for the Golden Knights (29-9-2), who faced Colgate in the final on Saturday.
After surrendering an early goal, second-ranked Yale (28-3-1) went ahead on goals from Elle Hartje and Charlotte Welch. Clarkson tied it up again before an Emma DeCorby put the Bulldogs back up a goal.
Clarkson outshot Yale 31-25.
Colgate 5, Quinnipiac 1: At New Haven, Alexa Hoskin had the lone goal for the Bobcats (29-9-0) in a loss in the second semifinal of the ECAC Women’s Hockey Championship at Ingalls Rank on Friday.
Five different skaters scored for Colgate (31-5-2), which faced Clarkson in the final on Saturday.
Sacred Heart 3, Niagara 1:
At Fairfield, Luke Lush finished with 33 saves as the Pioneers won the opening game of an AHA Tournament quarterfinal series on Friday.
Daniel Ebrahim, Kevin
Lombardi and Ryan Steele all scored for Sacred Heart.
Jay Ahearn had the lone goal for Niagara.
John Carroll 91, Albertus Magnus 80:
At Oswego, N.Y., Terry Dawkins and Antonio Bonilla scored 18 points each, but the Falcons fell in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday.
Justice Washington added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Albertus (19-9), which stunned topranked St. Joseph in the GNAC championship game last Sunday.
John Carroll improved to 22-4.
