Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC visits Greens Farms Academy in Westport

Scene… Greens Farms Academy in Westport had some surprise guests last week in music teacher Betsy Bergeron’s theory class. Charlie Hall, the drummer of the Grammy Award-winning band The War on Drugs and a former student of Bergeron’s and rapper Darryl McDaniels of RunDMC stopped in her class and interacted with students, sharing their knowledge and passion for music. Hall, a 1992 graduate of Greens Farms Academy was Greens Farms Hartwell Visiting Fellow, as was McDaniels, who also wrote a children’s book called “Darryl’s Dream.” Bergeron, a Greenwich native, is upper school director of choir activities and music. Hall also produced the widely played A Philly Special Christmas album, a vocal trio of Philadelph­ia Eagles’ players Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce and Jordan Mailata that was released in December. Out there…The 4th annual Girls with Impact Gala, Launching Women’s History Month: A Celebratio­n of Trailblaze­rs and Innovators takes place on Feb. 29 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at L’Escale on Greenwich Harbor. The evening will feature a conversati­on with honoree Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo. The event will offer cocktails, dinner and a charity

Scene… The popular French restaurant La Crémaillèr­e closed this week for renovation­s of the 1750s farmhouse in Bedford, N.Y. chef and managing partner Thomas Burke who led in the restaurant’s reopening in 2022, stated it will open again in March as a new restaurant, Le Poisson. Burke
