— Staples coach Barry Beattie said about Ridgefield goalkeeper Lauren Castle. Staples and Ridgefield played to a scoreless tie, keeping both teams unbeaten.

“What we wanted to prove was that we are a strong enough program to compete with anyone in the SCC.”

— East Haven coach Jake Hackett following the team’s 1-0 win over Hand. This was the first time East Haven has ever beaten Hand.

GET OUT AND GO

Ridgefield at St. Joseph, Monday, 4 p.m.: Ridgefield comes off its first loss to New Canaan, which was the first team to score a goal against the Tigers this season. Game was postponed from Thursday due to inclement weather.

Weston at Watertown, Saturday, 4 p.m.: Love these non-conference matchups late in the season. Should prove beneficial for both clubs as the postseason approaches.

OF NOTE

New Canaan became the first team to not only score on Ridgefield, but also defeat the reigning Class LL state champions 1-0 on Saturday..
