Highest priced listings of the week
With undulating hills of green, punctuated with glorious trees and dotted with patches of white sand — hazardous only to those find themselves in those unforgiving pits — golf courses are often beautiful settings. It’s easy to understand why homes with views of golf courses might be sought-after by homebuyers who don’t even play. But for passionate golfers, living on or near a course — or a favorite membersonly club — can be one of the top priorities in searching for a luxury-market home.
Greenwich has a fine menu of golf courses and clubs, for buyers who crave this type of property, with close proximity to a tee time and all the amenities that golf clubs may offer.
“I’ve often found that when buyers are golfers, they are inclined to base their choice on its proximity to a golf course,” Mary Beaudry suggested. Beaudry is a Realtor with Anderson Associates, a Greenwich-based brokerage.
“They may not even tell their spouse that’s why they love this particular house,” she quipped. “After the closing, it’s ‘discovered’ that one of the highest-rated courses is just up the road!”
Listed by Beaudry for $4.785 million, 26 Skyridge Road is just such a property, with a long list of remarkable attributes, including its close proximity to both Burning Tree Country Club and The Stanwich Club.
The single-family colonial sits behind private gates on 4 acres, with “rolling hills, stately trees and a peaceful meadow,” Beaudry pointed out. The 9,360-squarefeet of living space is sun-filled with special design details like five fireplaces, inlaid flooring, French doors, a mahogany-paneled library and more. The home has six en-suite bedrooms, including an entire wing for the master suite, which has a marble fireplace, a sitting room, two dressing rooms and an indulgent bath.
“This home has the best of all worlds — not only minutes away from two superb, first-class golf courses, it features every amenity and sits on one of the highest elevations in Greenwich,” Beaudry explained. “It’s the perfect place for a golfer to come home after 18 holes, watch the sunset and reflect on their game.”
Leslie McElwreath, a Realtor and senior global real estate advisor for Sotheby’s International Realty in Greenwich, is representing the seller of 325 Taconic Road, a classic and timeless colonial on a 4.6-acre lot that abuts The Stanwich Club’s property. The $3.35 million home has more than 7,000 square feet of living space and five bedrooms. It enjoys a private, gated setting, with gardens and a heated pool.
“This home has a remarkable kitchen and family room that opens to an expansive terrace — ideal for entertaining,” McElwreath noted.
The other perk is its proximity to The Stanwich Club. It is easily accessible.
“The entrance is on a private road, so if you are a member, you truly can drive your golf cart to the first tee, to dinner, or even to summer camp,” McElwreath suggested to buyers considering 325 Taconic Road.
Built in 2005 by architect Jim Schettino, the grand five-bedroom, nine-bath home at 8 Carpenters Brook Road presides over 2 acres adjacent to the lovely golf course at Tamarack Country Club. Joy Kim Metalios, founding broker for The Metalios Group at William Raveis Real Estate, has listed the property for $2.69 million.
The floor plan for the 6,750square-foot custom design is based on an open concept and a great room. The house is replete with noteworthy design details, including a stone fireplace in the great room, Calcutta gold marble waterfall countertops in the kitchen and French doors that open out to a screened-in porch and beyond it, a saltwater pool and pool house.
“For the love of golf,” Metalios exclaimed. “A striking home that’s green-conscious, has its own golf simulator and joins with Tamarack Country Club? A golfer’s paradise! This home feels like its own club, with a saltwater pool, workout room, top-of-theline amenities and serene setting.”
