Nostalgia Night
A “Remember Manero’s” steak dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at The St. Lawrence Club, 86 Valley Road, Cos Cob. Join the club and reminisce over the longgone Greenwich landmark restaurant. The club will dish up a meal of steak tid-bits, garlic bread, fried onions, gorgonzola salad and more. There’s no tax or tip, and members of the St. Lawrence Society get a free drink. Rummage Room returns
The Rummage Room reopens after its summer break this week with lots of newto-you merchandise as it kicks off its 55th year in Old Greenwich. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The Rummage Room is located at 191 Sound Beach Ave.
‘Unity in Diversity’ in art
The Greenwich Art Society’s new exhibit “Unity In Diversity” will run through Friday at the Bendheim Gallery inside the Greenwich Arts Center at 299 Greenwich Ave. The goal of the exhibit is for viewers to consider how diverse points of aesthetic, intellectual and social views can come together in a unified setting. Tot Shabbat and family dinner
Join the Greenwich Reform Synagogue for a monthly Family Shabbat at 5:30 p.m. Friday at 92 Orchard St. It starts with a Tot Shabbat at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m., followed by family services at 7 p.m. The service is meaningful for all ages, and features kid-friendly visual tefilah and music, geared to children ages 5 to 14. Qigong at the GBC
Old Greenwich expert Donna Bunte teaches Qigong at 10 a.m. Fridays at the Greenwich Botanical Center, 130 Bible St., Cos Cob. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, qigong is viewed as a practice to cultivate and balance qi (chi), translated as “life energy”. Qigong practice involves moving meditation, coordinating slow flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing, and calm meditative state of mind. Prostate cancer screening
Greenwich Hospital is offering its annual free prostate screening. Part 1 involves a blood draw between 5 and 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 or Sept. in the Outpatient Laboratory on the first floor of Greenwich Hospital. Part II involves a physical exam and PSA result counseling by urologists from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 10, 12 and 17 at the Ambulatory Surgery Unit on the second floor. Men must attend both parts. Concert at the Point
Pete Francis (of Dispatch) & The Dragon Crest Collective will perform at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Seaside Garden at Greenwich Point. This is the final concert of the 2019 season sponsored by the Friends of Greenwich Point. The Seaside Garden is behind the Chimes Building with parking before the Old Greenwich Yacht Club. Free. Bring refreshments and chairs or a blanket. Beach passes are required. Swim Team Evaluations
The Greenwich YWCA Dolphins will open its 201920 season with roster placement evaluations on Saturday at the YWCA. Regular practices start on Sept. 9. For more information go to www.greenwichdolphins.com.
Family Fun Day and BBQ

YWCA Family Fun Fair
The YWCA Greenwich will host its annual Family Fun Fair from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at its home at 259 E. Putnam Ave. Admission is free and everyone in Greenwich is invited to experience the children’s programs offered at the YWCA. Younger children can enjoy our splash pad or have fun in the Bouncy Castle. There will be music, games, arts and crafts, face painting, and celebratory cupcakes. ‘History Is...’ exhibit
The “History Is...” exhibition at the Greenwich Historical Society will run through Saturday. Drawing on objects and images from the historical society’s collections, “History Is…” encourages visitors to reflect on the role history plays at different stages in their lives and explores the ways individuals look at, define and interpret history. Visitors can also view paintings from the artists of the Cos Cob art colony, a short orientation film, a timeline, and displays of recent acquisitions and seldom-seen objects from the collections of the Greenwich Historical Society.
Byram book drop-off

Emmanuel College in Concert
Join Christ Church Greenwich in welcoming the Choir of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, for a concert at 6 p.m.

Valley Jam
The Pemberwick-Glenville Association’s annual community Valley Jam will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at the field at Western Greenwich Civic Center, 449 Pemberwick Road. The free community event will feature kids games and activities, a dance performance, four bands, food trucks, raffle prizes, and a showcase of Civic Center programs and local organizations.
