Health resource center unique to Greenwich
To the editor,
I want to thank Greenwich Time and Staff Writer Tatiana Flowers for the flattering article about the Steven P. Mickley Community Health Resource Library, “Librarian just what the doctor ordered” (news story, Aug. 25).
You should know that this medical resource library is unique in the state of Connecticut. Yes, it has extensive health information, comfortable seating, designated computers for cost free public use, and a leading library of health publications.
But it is the only health resource library in Connecticut with a trained health care librarian, whose job is to help the public, not health care professionals. The librarian, Veronica Bilenkin, will help you find trustworthy health care information to make informed decisions about your health. She helps patients, family members, or visitors navigate the complicated world of online health care information.
Veronica is available in person from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. She is also available by phone (2038633286) or email (Veronica.Bilenkin@Greenwichhospital.org), and at any number of outreach programs, both in Greenwich and the surrounding towns. In addition, you can also contact her via the Health Resource Library website (libguides.greenhosp.org/communityhealthsection) or the main library phone number (2038633284).
Veronica has lectured to various organizations, such as the Retired Men’s Association and the Rotary Club. I have seen her in action, and know that other organizations would be wellserved to contact her and ask for a presentation. Veronica can take a health care topic suggested by the audience, skillfully research it online while you watch and deliver results in real time.
Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not say that I and the Greenwich community owe a large “Thank you” to the anonymous donors who fund the library and made it possible to hire Veronica. Gifts like this are one of the things that make Greenwich a very special place.
