Greenwich Time

An open letter to Camillo

-

Dear Fred,

I am sure you are still still beaming from your victory on Election Night. Congratulations!

This election and its results have been keeping me up at night. I am saddened and frightened at the tone it took. Oddly, in a way, I think the negativity stemmed less by the candidates then by the voters. And that is one of the reasons (aside from congratulating you) that I am writing.

As our new leader, one who is obviously loved and respected throughout the town, and one who was elected by both political parties plus those unaffiliated, you are in the unique position to truly unite Greenwich and calm the ugly vibe.

Your words and actions are more important now than ever before. We are living in a time where people think it’s OK to speak and show disdain for anyone with a different idea, look, origin, opinion. But you are loved by most and as the new leader you have the platform to steer the town in a positive direction, meaning a town whose residents show respect to themselves and to others.

While there are definitely issues that need addressing such as economy, schools, building, environment etc., Greenwich needs unifying through common courtesy.

Fred, I think everyone agrees that you are a great guy and that you have earned your way to the top.

Greenwich needs you now to lead the community with your words, teachings and reminders of how we can all walk down the path together for the common good.

Thank you for your service. All the best to you and to our wonderful town
