Greenwich Virtual Sip and Shop showcases local businesses
A new program is encouraging fans of Greenwich’s stores to shop from home to support local businesses affected by the coronavirus crisis.
Launched Friday and running until May 8, the Greenwich Virtual Sip and Shop features promotions and initiatives from a number of independent retailers and beverage stores.
Personal stylist Nancy Carr and Realtor Roseann Sarica Benedict are leading the showcase, while the Local Moms Network/ Greenwich Moms and the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce are also supporting the effort.
“Roseann and I were looking for a way to support our struggling retailers during this time and help showcase the amazing services and products that our many local independent retailers offer and decided to expand upon the popular Sip and Shop concept and do it virtually,” Carr, a stylist with J.Hilburn custom menswear who has organized a number of Sip and Shop events for Swim Across America Fairfield County, said in a statement. “The wine and liquor stores and the local retailers loved it and were more than happy to come on board.”
Putnam & Vine Wines and Spirits; Sam’s Wines, Liquors and Beer; and Post Wines and Spirits are among the beverage establishments that are taking part.
“Participating local wine and liquor stores have everything needed for a perfect at-home virtual cocktail party,” the Virtual Sip and Shop organizers said in their announcement. “Offering curbside pickup and delivery, they will curate a virtual wine tour, tequila tasting, bourbon flight or just a few of your favorite beverages.”
Diane’s Books, Claudette, Fred, HabitatGreenwich, Pinky, Sophia’s and Splurge are among the retail participants.
“Offering the latest fashions, accessories, books and even face coverings to help keep you safe, local retailers are open, stocked and happy to wrap and deliver purchases or have them ready for curbside pickup,” the Virtual Sip and Shop organizers also said.
Retailers participating in the Greenwich Virtual Sip and Shop are offering a chance to win a $50 gift certificate.
